The Body-Jet or Water Jet Assisted Liposuction System

Woman in white fitness outfit exercise ball Dr Tilman Stasch incorporates the use of state of the art Water jet assisted liposuction system(WAL). Notably, he is currently the only surgeon in sub Saharan Africa in possession of this system.

What Is Water Jet Assisted Liposuction System?

This system, also known as Body-Jet is a fairly new breakthrough in plastic and aesthetic surgery. Unlike the traditional liposuction carried out under general anesthesia, Water Jet Liposuction uses a small fan-shaped water jet that thrusts pressure against the fat tissue, allowing fat cells to wash off gradually and be suctioned out immediately.

How Is The Water Jet Assisted Liposuction System Better?

This technique is highly effective and has become the new criterion for liposuction. Less overall injectable anesthetic and infiltration fluid (tumescence) is used hence the removal of fat cells becomes a more gentle process. Fat cells are separated from the tissue by the water instead of by chemical interaction. It essentially makes the process easier and less stressful for both the surgeon and patient. The patient’s operation and recovery time is reduced considerably as it is less traumatic to tissues. It is almost pain free and no requirement of general anesthesia. Intra-operative swelling is reduced as the procedure is carried out under direct visual management which consecutively minimizes the correction rate. In addition it is time saving and enables better fat cell vitality.

A great advantage of using water-pulse sculpting tools is that it achieves a smooth, natural appearance as opposed to dry suction cannula and aspirator liposuction. The WAL system is gentle, minimally invasive and does not crush or destroy fat like traditional liposuction. The fat removed during this procedure is useful for fat grafting and other procedures.
What Can I Expect During The Water Jet Liposuction Procedure?

The water jet Assisted Liposuction procedure is typically performed as an out-patient procedure under local anesthesia. It is generally minimally invasive and the entire procedure takes 30 to 45min for each part of the body that is treated. It is quite common for patients to be able to return to their daily activities a few days after the procedure. In fact, the procedure has been termed as a “lunch break lipo” because most patients are able to undergo the procedure and shortly afterwards assume their usual activities comfortably.
